1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how InsureIntel (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use InsureIntel (the “Service”). By using the Service, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect the information you provide through our authentication provider, Clerk. This typically includes your name, email address, and profile image. We do not collect or store passwords directly; authentication is handled entirely by Clerk.

2.2 Billing Information

When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment details on our servers. We receive and store your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, plan type, and billing period start and end dates from Stripe to manage your subscription.

2.3 Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the Service, including the carriers you follow, alert configurations you set, comparison reports you generate, and features you access. This data is used to provide the Service and improve your experience.

2.4 Technical Data

Our hosting provider, Vercel, automatically collects certain technical information when you access the Service, including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, referring URL, pages visited, and timestamps. This data is collected through server logs and is used for security, performance monitoring, and analytics.

2.5 Email Communications

If you configure filing alert digests, we use your email address to send you automated notifications through our email provider, Resend. We track email delivery status (delivered, bounced) to maintain list health and service reliability.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including delivering personalized filing alerts, generating comparison reports, and displaying carrier data relevant to your watchlist.
• To process payments and manage your subscription.
• To send you transactional emails, including subscription confirmations, billing receipts, filing alert digests, and important service updates.
• To monitor and analyze usage patterns and trends to improve the Service.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, and security concerns.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your personal information for advertising purposes. We do not build behavioral profiles for ad targeting.

4. Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party services to operate the platform. Each processes certain data on our behalf and is subject to its own privacy policy:

• Clerk (authentication) — Processes your email, name, and authentication credentials. Clerk stores your login information and handles session management. Clerk Privacy Policy
• Stripe (payments) — Processes your payment method details, billing address, and transaction history. We never receive or store your full card number. Stripe Privacy Policy
• Vercel (hosting) — Hosts the Service and processes server logs containing IP addresses, request metadata, and performance data. Vercel Privacy Policy
• Resend (email) — Sends transactional and alert digest emails on our behalf. Resend processes your email address and email delivery metadata. Resend Privacy Policy
• Google Gemini (AI analysis) — We send publicly available SEC filing text and carrier IR document content to Google's Gemini API for analysis. No personal user data is sent to Gemini. Google Privacy Policy
• Anthropic Claude (AI analysis) — We send publicly available document content (primarily PDF slide decks from carrier investor relations) to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. No personal user data is sent to Claude. Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Turso (database) — Our production database is hosted by Turso. All application data, including account records, alert configurations, and usage data, is stored in Turso's infrastructure. Turso Privacy Policy

5. Cookies and Tracking

The Service uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

• Authentication cookies — Set by Clerk to maintain your login session. These are essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled.
• Session storage — We use browser session storage to cache your authentication status for performance, reducing redundant API calls. This data is cleared when you close your browser tab.

We do not use advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. We do not participate in cross-site tracking or behavioral advertising networks.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you cancel your subscription, your account data (including alert configurations and report history) is retained for 90 days in case you choose to resubscribe. After 90 days of account inactivity following cancellation, we will delete your personal data from our systems, except where retention is required by law.

Billing records may be retained for up to 7 years as required for tax and accounting compliance. Server logs containing IP addresses are retained by Vercel according to their data retention policies.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted database connections, access controls, and secure authentication through Clerk. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access — You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction — You may request that we correct inaccurate personal information. You can update your name and email directly through your account settings (powered by Clerk).
• Deletion — You may request that we delete your personal information. We will comply with such requests unless we are required to retain the data by law.
• Data portability — You may request a machine-readable export of your personal data.
• Opt-out of emails — You can disable alert digest emails at any time through your account settings. Transactional emails related to your account and billing cannot be opted out of while your account is active.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

10. International Data Transfers

The Service is hosted in the United States by Vercel. If you access the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The “Effective Date” at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
